Thousand of Students across Asia to Run 24 Hours non-stop to Fight Modern Slavery

In early December 2017, 2500 + high school students in Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore will run 24 hours non-stop to fund "Operation 24" - a program to rescue victims of human trafficking across the globe.

(Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur) - Students from over 100 high schools will come together in their respective cities to run 24 Hours non-stop in order to raise funds and awareness to fight modern slavery.

24 Hour Races are organized and led by extraordinary high school students. This year, the funds raised will be used to launch "Operation 24", a collaborative program with US-based "The Exodus Road", to remove at least 240 victims and traffickers from the human trafficking world.

This year's races in Hong Kong (Lugard Road, Victoria Peak) and Singapore will take place from the 2nd - 3rd of December. Kuala Lumpur's race will happen a week later at Epsom College, from the 9th - 10th of December. Students form teams of 8 and run 24 hours, relay-style to cover the greatest distance possible. By sacrificing mental and physical comfort, participants aim to raise awareness and funds to lead the fight against modern slavery.

The 24 Hour Race was founded in 2010 by Christopher Schrader, then a student at Li Po Chun United World College. Christopher started organizing and participating in expeditions after a close childhood friend passed away of an "orphan disease". When his friends asked him how they could organize their own 'endurance' events for charity, the 24 Hour Race was born. The event gives everyone, no matter background, wealth or physical ability, the opportunity to make a difference. In 2010, slavery was a word only used in history lessons. Thanks largely to the efforts of high school student volunteers, slavery is fast becoming one of the most important causes to address and the 24 Hour Race has become Asia's largest student abolitionist movement.

"Each year, we select engaged high school students and equip them with the skills to manage a professional charity" says Christopher Schrader, Founder of the 24 Hour Race "Every difference that we've made is a direct result of the commitment, effort and priority our volunteers and participants put into ending slavery".

"By growing our movement to dozens of cities across the world, we are building a generation that is entering tertiary education and professional arenas that is determined to wipe the scourge of modern slavery off the face of the earth."
